Juventus and Fiorentina ‘to compete’ to sign Marseille midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg | OneFootball

Juventus have made Pierre-Emile Højbjerg a winter-window priority, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting the Marseille midfielder is being targeted. The Serie A club are seeking experience in the middle.

Højbjerg, 31, was close to leaving France a few weeks ago but rejected a move to Newcastle United to stay at OM. That call angered owner Frank McCourt, who viewed a sale as a chance to balance the books.

Since then he has won back his place under Bruno Genesio, with six starts and one goal in six appearances. His situation could still change in January.

Juventus believe they are in a position to persuade him to join, as they search for an experienced midfielder.

Fiorentina have also set their sights on the former Tottenham Hotspur player, which would make any move more complicated for the Turin club.
