Juventus have announced the appointment of Luciano Spalletti as their new manager, marking the start of a new chapter after an underwhelming spell under Igor Tudor.

The veteran Italian boss has signed a contract until June 2026 to return to club football after his recent stint as Italy’s national team coach.

His arrival follows Tudor’s dismissal earlier this week after an eight-game winless run that left Juventus eighth in Serie A.

The Croatian’s final match in charge was a 1-0 defeat to Lazio, with interim boss Massimo Brambilla overseeing a morale-boosting 3-1 victory over Udinese on Wednesday.

Spalletti brings a wealth of experience spanning over three decades, having previously managed Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan and Udinese.

He famously guided Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022-23 and also enjoyed success abroad with Zenit Saint Petersburg, winning two Russian league titles and a domestic cup.

Born in Certaldo, Tuscany, Spalletti began his managerial journey at Empoli, where he won the Serie C Coppa Italia and achieved promotion to Serie A.

He later earned acclaim at Udinese in the early 2000s, leading them to their first-ever qualification for the Champions League. He then joined Roma, where he won the Coppa Italia twice.

After spells at Inter and Zenit, Spalletti’s tactical acumen and emphasis on attacking football made him one of Serie A’s most respected coaches.

His success with Napoli reaffirmed his reputation as a manager capable of rebuilding teams and delivering results.

The Bianconeri hope his arrival will spark an immediate revival as they aim to return to the Champions League and challenge for domestic honours once again.

Spalletti’s first task will be to steady a side that has struggled for consistency this season – but few people doubt his ability to restore the winning mentality synonymous with the club’s history.
