Juventus have confirmed that Nicolò Savona suffered a serious ankle injury during the Club World Cup defeat to Manchester City and will be out for at least a month.
It was immediately apparent that the full-back had done real damage when his ankle turned over in an accidental collision during last night’s 5-2 loss in Orlando.
He was carried off the field by two members of the medical staff and coach Igor Tudor confirmed in media interviews that it did “not look good.”

Now Juventus have released a formal statement noting that tests showed a a high-grade capsular-ligament lesion in his ankle.
The player has already started the rehabilitation process and will be re-evaluated with more tests in a month’s time.
This suggests that Juventus are trying to avoid surgery and hope that conservative treatment can suffice.
Regardless, the Club World Cup is over for Savona and he could also miss the start of next season, or at least see his pre-season training severely limited.
