Juventus are considering making a surprise move for Chelsea and former Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter sold midfielder Casadei to Chelsea during the summer of 2022.
At that time, the Nerazzurri were still in the midst of a difficult financial situation that saw them having to sell players in order to make up for losses.
Rather than selling a big name player from the senior squad, Inter decided to cash in on Casadei.
At that time, Casadei had yet to make an appearance for Inter’s senior team. Rather, he had impressed with his performances for the Nerazzurri’s Primavera or Under-19 team.
Chelsea reportedly paid Inter a fee in the region of €20 million with all add-ons included to sign Casadei.
So far, however, Casadei has yet to make much of a mark at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian youth team international had loan spells with the likes of Reading and Leicester City in the Championship.
However, this season Casadei has been part of Chelsea’s senior first team squad.
That has not seen the 21-year-old make many appearances, however. There have been four appearances for him so far this campaign, coming in the Europa Conference League and EFL Cup.
Therefore, Chelsea could already be ready to offload Casadei for the right offer.
And according to Tuttosport, it could be a return to Italy for the 21-year-old But not to Inter.
Rather, the Nerazzurri’s Derby d’italia rivals Juventus are eyeing Casadei up, reports Tuttosport.
The newspaper report that the Bianconeri are aiming to make midfield reinforcements. But only if they are to sell players.
According to Tuttosport, the main candidate to depart would be Nicolo Fagioli.
If the Juventus youth academy graduate were to leave in January, they could go after Casadei to replace him.
