A late goal from Francisco Conceição ensured that Juventus edged a pulsating Derby d'Italia to provide a massive boost to their hopes of a top four spot.

The first half carried on where the 4-4 draw in the reverse fixture left off, with the game taking an end-to-end look from the off.

Both Juventus and Inter had chances to take the lead, with Denzel Dumfries hitting the post and Randal Kolo-Muani seeing an effort saved as neither side could find a way into the lead at the half-time interval despite the entertaining spectacle, with both goalkeepers called into action on several occasions.

As in the first half, the hosts began the second 45 on the front foot, but their final pass continued to be missing despite some tidy football.

Both sides made changes on the hour mark, with Inzaghi sending on three new players including Marcus Thuram, and though the game became increasingly stretched and frenetic both defences held firm.

But with 17 minutes left to play Inter's backline was finally breached, with some sublime skill from Kolo Muani eventually ending with the ball at Francisco Conceição, who fired through the legs of Benjamin Pavard and into the bottom corner.

They almost doubled their lead a minute later, only for Denzel Dumfries to clear Teun Koopmeiners' effort off the line to keep Inzaghi's side in the game.

Inter pushed for an equaliser but could not create anything of note in Turin, and were left ruing their first half misses as they lost more ground in the Scudetto race.
