Juventus end Tagliafico pursuit as Cabal’s Atalanta switch collapses | OneFootball

Juventus have ended their pursuit of Nicolas Tagliafico because Juan Cabal is staying put. The Olympique Lyonnais left-back is now free to join Atletico Madrid, where he would link up with Jonathan David.

Sky Sport Italia reports that negotiations to sell Cabal to Atalanta have collapsed, keeping the defender in Turin.

Juve had set their sights on the Argentina international full-back and held his preference for a switch. The move was always contingent on Cabal departing first.

Cabal has been a complicated case since arriving from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2024 for €12.8m plus add-ons. He has made only 28 competitive appearances across two seasons, with two goals and two assists.

The club have tried repeatedly to move him on, including to Bologna during talks for Jhon Lucumi, and most recently to Atalanta. Without his exit, no replacement can be signed, so Cabal remains under Luciano Spalletti’s guidance.
