Juventus Eye French Duo Should Vlahovic Talks Collapse

Juventus are growing pessimistic about their chances of striking a deal to keep Dusan Vlahovic and have intensified their search for some fallbacks, and Randal Kolo Muani and Jean-Philippe Mateta are well-positioned in that sense, La Stampa reports.

The Serbian striker asked for €8M per season, either directly or through a sizeable signing bonus spread throughout the course of a short-term deal. He’d remain the highest-paid player in the squad that way.

Juventus will stay in touch with Vlahovic until he signs with another team but seem ready to pivot toward Mateta and Kolo Muani. Napoli have already spent big for Rasmus Hojlund, but Massimiliano Allegri will invite the management to make an attempt for his former marksman. Inter and Milan could also be in the mix.

The Old Lady attempted a reunion with the 27-year-old in January, but Tottenham didn’t release him from his loan. Their execs anticipate the negotiation with PSG being less challenging than in the past.

The Crystal Palace star solved the knee problems that made his January switch to Milan collapse. He has yet to extende his contract, though. Mauro Icardi is in the Bianconeri’s radar, should they need a deputy too.

Our Take on Juventus, Vlahovic, Kolo Muani, and Mateta

There must at least be some common ground with their current star if the negotiation is still somehow ongoing, but they’d have to be creative to make it seem like he’s not taking a massive pay cut. They might not find a way in the end. He’s been productive under Luciano Spalletti, but he’s not the only quality center-forward around. It’d be ill-advised to break the and upset some delicate balances for him. They’d be just fine with the alternatives. The price tags will be the sticking points in those cases.
