The preparation for the January transfer market has been a relatively silent one for Real Madrid, especially with the club choosing to opt against making any new recruitments.

The departure of Endrick on loan, on that front, has been the single most important development of the window so far, but several other Real Madrid stars are being linked with departures too.

Gonzalo Garcia is one such player whom clubs have placed their eye on, especially given how he has struggled for prominence under Xabi Alonso after the FIFA Club World Cup.

Interest from Italy

As confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio in a recent report, Serie A giants Juventus have their eyes on Garcia for the ongoing transfer window and see him as a possible option to reinforce their attack.

They see him as a possible deputy for their young talent, Kenan Yildiz, and see Garcia’s profile positively, especially because of his achievements at the Club World Cup.

If a deal goes through, it will likely be in the ‘Nico Paz formula’ as confirmed by the report.

Real Madrid will retain buy-back clauses on the player for various valuations and thereby retain control of his long-term future.

So far this season, the 21-year-old has made 13 appearances but just one start for Real Madrid and has been completely overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe’s red-hot form. He is yet to score a goal and averages just 15 minutes a game in La Liga.

The big question, however, is whether Los Blancos are open to parting ways with the talent immediately, especially given how squad depth issues are beginning to creep up in certain departments already.

With Endrick gone, moreover, Garcia is the only backup striker remaining.
