Juventus flop Jonathan David has been linked with a potential return to Ligue 1 with Olympique Lyonnais after arriving as a free agent from LOSC.

The striker was out of contract with Lille last summer and had several proposals, but Juve won the race for his signature thanks also to the €12.5m commission payment to his representatives.

It proved a disappointment, as he scored eight goals with five assists in 46 competitive games, but largely struggled to make much of an impact and missed several sitters.

After failing to secure Champions League qualification, the Bianconeri now need to balance the books and are looking to make sales.

That could include David, hoping that the Canada international impresses enough to raise his profile at the World Cup this summer.

According to Le Progrès, a return to France is the preferred alternative, with Olympique Lyonnais eager to make an offer.

There will be competition, but he wants somewhere to regain his confidence after a bruising campaign in Italy.

Lyon had already shown interest in January, when it was already evident that David was struggling to adapt to Serie A with Juventus, and again in March.
