Juventus goalkeeper Grabara suffers torn ACL | OneFootball

Kamil Grabara has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Juventus have confirmed, just days after an impressive debut for the club.

According to a medical bulletin published by the Bianconeri, the goalkeeper sustained a twisting injury to the joint during Saturday afternoon’s training session and underwent diagnostic tests at the J Medical centre.

Those examinations revealed the ACL damage and Juventus say Grabara will undergo orthopaedic consultations in the coming days to determine the course of treatment.

Grabara injured days after clean sheet on Juventus debut

The club have not put a timeframe on his absence, which will depend on the specialists’ assessment, though a full ACL rupture typically rules a player out for the best part of a season.

It is a cruel turn for the Pole, who made his first Juventus appearance in Thursday’s 5-0 Europa League win over NEC Nijmegen and kept a clean sheet, even claiming an assist with the long ball that led to Nico Gonzalez’s opening goal.

Luciano Spalletti had singled him out afterwards. “Let me congratulate Grabara, who showed composure and the ability to play with his feet,” the coach said. “In these games goalkeepers become the extra man.”
