Juventus are furthering their pursuit of Jean-Philippe Mateta, taking advantage of a time of uncertainty at Crystal Palace, but their first bid was rejected. The Bianconeri are willing to put a considerable sum on the table, albeit with the formula of a loan with a conditional obligation to buy, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.
Their brass likes the Frenchman the most among the strikers available on the market, but they won’t sign him at any cost. They have tendered a €33M package. They have reached an agreement on personal terms for a long-term contract, while they are still negotiating commissions with his camp.
Juventus plot to insist on Mateta, who’s likely to leave Crystal Palace either in January or in the summer, when he’ll have just a year left on his deal. The Eagles just sold Marc Guehi to Manchester City to avoid a Bosman exit. They will have to decide what to do with their marksman, as his valuation will decrease in a few months. In addition, coach Oliver Glasner stated that he’d flee at the end of the campaign.
If the 28-year-old proves to be unreachable, the Old Lady will turn their attention to Youssef En-Nesyri, who’s wanted by Napoli as well, and Joshua Zirkzee, should Manchester United finally decide to let him go. Roma have moved on following their recent signings.
They have changed their mind a few times about their main winter priority. They could certainly use a physical striker in certain match-ups, but they have already invested a lot in the position. The formula is a hindrance, but they can find more intriguing options at that price with the right guarantees.
