Juventus have held initial talks with Leon Goretzka as they attempt to beat Arsenal to the Bayern Munich midfielder, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serie A club are exploring a free transfer when his Bayern Munich contract expires this summer. The 31-year-old would be available without a fee at that point.
The report says coach Luciane Spalletti has prioritised Goretzka in recruitment plans.
Arsenal have been viewed as favourites, yet Juventus are pushing to overcome strong competition and convince him to choose them over the Premier League side.
Juventus are said to have first tracked Goretzka in 2010, and a move now could finally happen 16 years on.
