At Trigoria, the hunt for a striker will be on: Roma wants to score more and is looking for new goals in the January transfer window.
Dovbyk and Ferguson have disappointed so far, Dybala is injured, Bailey has had some physical problems at the start of the season, and Soulé can’t shoulder the weight of the attack alone.
The first name on Massara’s wish list is Joshua Zirkzee, but there’s plenty of competition for him: in addition to Sevilla, there now also seem to be another Italian club in pursuit of the former Bologna player.
According to The Mirror, Juventus have expressed strong interest in Zirkzee at the suggestion of Spalletti, who is determined to strengthen the attack after the struggles of Jonathan David, who has so far been below expectations.
The former Napoli coach knows the Dutchman well, appreciating his immediate impact and familiarity with Serie A after his time at Bologna.
The Bianconeri have reportedly already initiated contact with the player’s team and are evaluating a six-month loan with an option to buy permanently, guaranteeing Zirkzee consistent use.
