Daniele Rugani has found a cozy perch and doesn’t envision returning to Juventus to help them with their defensive emergency. He spoke with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato).
“I hope everybody is keeping tabs, not just the Bianconeri, but also other clubs, including Ajax. I’m doing well and dream of returning to the national team. The relationship with the club is excellent. I’ve digested everything and don’t hold a grudge. I’m great here.”
Rugani revealed his conversations with Juventus boss Thiago Motta.
“He was very sincere and direct since day one. He told me I wasn’t part of the technical project. He was so frank that I don’t think he could change his mind after a few months. I might have disagreed, but I appreciated his sincerity. He was straightforward and correct with me. Living with the doubt for two months would have been way worse. I only regret not having a chance in training because I was hurt in July. I’m happy as is.”
Rugani departed even though he had prolonged his Juventus contract a few weeks before.
“I was aware that the renewal wouldn’t have guaranteed my permanence. I’ll always be grateful to the Bianconeri. My future? I’m focused on having a great second half of the season at Ajax, then we’ll see in June.”
Rugani dished on Manuel Locatelli, who’s having a bounce-back campaign.
