The injury suffered by Dusan Vlahovic in the first half of the recent Cagliari tilt looked serious from the get-go. Juventus confirmed that he suffered a high-grade lesion of the muscle-tendon junction of the left adductor longus. He’ll undergo further consultations to decide the rehab route. Luciano Spalletti stated that the star would be out for two to three months.
The Bianconeri won’t have their no.9 for some crunch matches. They’ll take on Napoli twice, Bologna, and Roma during such a timeframe.
Juventus have been trying to offload Vlahovic in recent windows because of his expiring contract and massive demands, but they didn’t freeze him out. He’s been their most convincing striker so far, notching 6 goals and 2 assists in 17 appearances.
The Old Lady will inevitably have to turn to Jonathan David and Lois Openda. They could test Kenan Yildiz as a false-nine as well.
It’s an unfortunate season league-wide from an injury standpoint, as seemingly every player of note who gets hurt ends up missing a ton of time. Other than a bout with a sports hernia that affected him for longer than it needed to, durability was one of his main qualities. The turn of events throws a big wrench into his extension saga and vanquishes every January rumour.
They had been preparing for a future without him, having signed two center-forwards last summer, but they need to step up, not only scoring-wise, but also in terms of leadership. That, combined with his traits, which better suit Serie A, has kept him in the lineup so far. Plus, he had been showing improvements in areas where he’d been lacking for years.
