Juventus are closing in on Youssef En-Nesyri, as their director, Marco Ottolini, is in Istanbul to put the finishing touches on the accord with Fenerbahce. They have concurred to his personal terms and are ironing out the details, TuttoSport informs.

The Bianconeri intend to shell out €5M, which would cover the fee for a six-month loan and the strikers’ wages. They want an option and not an obligation to buy, for around €18/20M. They expect the exec to get things done in a hurry to beat other teams, Aston Villa and Napoli, to the punch.

Juventus pivoted toward En-Nesyri once they realized that Crystal Palace would have allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta to switch sides only permanently and for a lofty fee. The Frenchman has reportedly asked out. He’s only open to Italian and English destinations, not exotic ones.

The 28-year-old is fresh off a lengthy but scoreless run in AFCON, during which he only featured as a sub. He has 25 goals in 92 games with his national team under his belt. He has hit the net 8 times in 25 fixtures with Fenerbahce this season.

Our Take on Juventus and En-Nesyri

Given their lack of resources and unwillingness to hamstring future investments, which is somewhat understandable as they’re in flux in the role, they have to settle for whatever is available on the market. If those were the conditions, Mateta was never a real possibility. The prospective newcomer would add some physicality and different characteristics compared to Jonathan David and Lois Openda, which will come in handy in some tilts. Still, it’s a stretch to think he’ll be a massive upgrade.
