Juventus have opened preliminary talks for Giorgio Scalvini, and Atalanta have set an asking price of €40m to €45m, according to Football Italia.

Juventus are targeting young Italian players as they refresh the squad. Regulations require a 25-man List A for European competitions to include at least eight locally trained players, of whom at least four are club-trained.

Scalvini would count as locally trained. The same applies to Inter’s Davide Frattesi.

Juventus are third in Serie A, only one point above fifth.

The club have also looked at Brentford defender Michael Kayode, formerly of Fiorentina, though he has said he is not considering leaving the Premier League side.
