Juventus are set to make a formal offer for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as the club look to beat competition from the Premier League.
Gyokeres is giving priority to a Premier League transfer but reported interest from Arsenal and Manchester United has failed to materialise into progress.
Arsenal are understood to be leaning towards a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, though Gyokeres remains an option for the Gunners. Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United want Gyokeres but feel the player is giving preference to a potential move to Arsenal while it remains ‘on the table’.
Juventus are hoping to capitalise on the situation with a €70m offer for Gyokeres. Corriere dello Sport claim the Serie A side will submit a formal offer in the coming days.
Juventus hope the prospect of Champions League football and a key role in the club’s rebuild can persuade Gyokeres to turn down the Premier League in favour of Italy.
The Bianconeri finished fourth in Serie A last season, 12 points behind champions Napoli. Juventus also suffered a European exit in the Champions League’s play-off round.
Gyokeres is seen as a target who can elevate the team for next season, after scoring 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting over the last two seasons.
Juventus are expected to sell last season’s leading scorer, Dusan Vlahovic, who has just 12 months to run on his contract in Turin. The Serbia international has been linked with a potential move to the Premier League.
