Juventus are closing in on a move for Nico Tagliafico after reaching a full agreement with the Lyon defender on personal terms, and they now hope to complete the deal today.

The Bianconeri targeted the Argentine as Atalanta have shown interest in Juan Cabal, a player Juventus have been looking to sell for the last few months. They are therefore prepared to allow him to join La Dea during this transfer window.

Cabal also wants the move, and his departure would leave Juventus needing to add another player to their squad before the window closes. The club have identified Tagliafico as an ideal replacement and are now working to complete the transfer.

Tagliafico agrees Juventus terms

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tagliafico has agreed to move to Turin during this transfer window. The experienced defender is keen to join Luciano Spalletti’s squad, giving Juventus confidence that the deal can be completed.

The Bianconeri are now waiting for Cabal’s departure to be finalised before pushing forward with Tagliafico’s arrival. Their plans are dependent on creating the space required for the new defender to join the squad.

Tagliafico would bring significant experience to the Juventus defence and is viewed by the club as a stronger option for the position. His arrival would also allow the Bianconeri to replace Cabal without leaving a gap in their squad.

Juventus prepare defensive change

Spalletti is believed to be confident that the experienced Argentine can make a greater contribution than Cabal. The Colombian has struggled with mistakes and injuries since joining Juventus, making his departure a solution the club are willing to pursue.

Juventus appear ready to move on from Cabal and replace him with a player they believe is better suited to their ambitions. Tagliafico’s experience could therefore prove valuable as the Bianconeri continue their campaign.

The next step is for Cabal’s move to Atalanta to be completed. Once that happens, Juventus will push to finalise Tagliafico’s transfer and bring the Argentine to Turin.

For the Bianconeri, the deal would represent a significant change in their defensive options. Tagliafico is eager to join, Juventus want him, and the club now need to complete the remaining steps to make the transfer happen today.
