About the match

“When there is all that density in the other half of the field, you need to raise the quality. The speed of the ball can make the difference. A ball played forward and not backward can flush out an opponent. We need to improve on this. We weren't able to make quality plays at our level. We need to work, there was fatigue. We made the same choices to avoid bringing in someone tired. But I am very happy with the team because we tried. We took a couple of counterattacks, Di Gregorio's great save followed a deflection. However, for them, it was a complicated match, we did what we had to.”

About the forwards

“David is very good in his area, with timing, it's his quality. Vlahovic had a small physical issue with his back but he made himself available, when I took him off he was exhausted. It's true that Vlahovic's physical presence is more bothersome. But David can be dangerous inside the area.”

On what was missing

“We lacked that quality and creativity needed in these matches. You play in tight spaces, you need a logical play, that meticulous precision to pass between two opponents. You also need more luck, which hasn't been on our side... Everyone talks about Di Gregorio's save but they got there with two deflections. We need to improve because we have the potential, but I am happy with what I saw, we put these matches in the bank of knowledge. We are not happy, no one in the locker room was.”
