Juventus have informed Aston Villa that the club do not intend to pursue a deal for Emi Martínez any further.
The Italian side had made Martinez their top target as the club seek to sign a new goalkeeper, but have decided that the cost of a deal to sign the Argentina international is too high.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have turned their attention to Tottenham Hotspur’s Guglielmo Vicario as an alternative. Juventus are hoping to reach an agreement on an initial loan deal for the Italy international, who is open to a return to Serie A.
Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Vicario has expressed interest in leaving North London this summer.
When asked about a potential exit for Vicario this week, he said: : “At the beginning of my time, in April, I had, I don’t know, one million individual meetings!
“And [the players] told me what was their idea. I said: ‘Yes, help me to stay up, and then I help you to leave’. If you don’t help me to stay up, you stay underwater with me!”
