Juventus ‘to offer’ prospect for Jhon Lucumi amid Sunderland and Nottingham Forest links | OneFootball

Sunderland are closing in on their first summer signing, with Belgium defender Thomas Meunier on Wearside for a medical to bolster the back line.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims Juventus remain keen on Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi and could include young prospect Vasilije Adzic in part-exchange after Bologna turned down Fabio Miretti, in a bid to reduce a €28m clause.

Sunderland’s interest in the Colombia international first surfaced 12 months ago as Regis Le Bris’ side prepared for a Premier League return, before attention shifted to a successful move for Getafe defender Omar Alderete.

Talk has persisted that Lucumi remains on Sunderland’s shortlist as he enters the final 12 months of his Bologna contract. He made 43 appearances last season and played in all five of Colombia’s World Cup finals fixtures, losing on penalties to Granit Xhaka’s Switzerland in the round of 16.

Lucumi will now report back to Bologna for the new Serie A season. Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have also been linked with the centre-back.
