Juventus have been kicking the tires on a few midfielders in the lead-up to the January window, and have gotten close in particular to Guido Rodriguez, but coach Luciano Spalletti recently suggested he’d rather sign a fullback and an attacker instead, Tuttomercatoweb informs.
The Bianconeri don’t have much wiggle room and will have to pick and choose among their targets. For the first role, they are keen on Oscar Mingueza. Their new director, Marco Ottolini, was spotted on the stands of the recent clash between Sevilla and Celta Vigo. His contract runs out at the end of the season. He’ll remain on their radar for a Bosman addition if he doesn’t arrive in January.
Juventus will probe how much it’ll cost to onboard him during the winter. His side would rather not lose him. Barcelona are owed 50 percent of the fee per the terms of his previous transfer. He headed to Galicia in 2022 and has accumulated 122 appearances since, scoring 7 goals and providing 12 assists.
As for the new forward, Spalletti is a strong proponent of bringing back Federico Chiesa. The Old Lady will have to wait another week, as Egypt reached the AFCON semi-finals, delaying Mohamed Salah’s return to Liverpool. Moreover, the Reds would only agree to a permanent formula. The Bianconeri will try to obtain a loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
They have been on a roll, but they are one injury away from being in real trouble in multiple positions, so any addition would help. However, it looks like they have resources only for some bargains that wouldn’t move the needle much.
