Michelangelo Rampulla does not think there is much difference between Zion Suzuki and Michele di Gregorio and has recommended a better goalkeeper to Juventus.

The Bianconeri are in talks to sign Suzuki, and if they fail to add him to their squad, they are open to signing him on loan from PSG in this transfer window. It is an interesting scenario for Juve to prefer having a goalkeeper on loan as their first choice instead of making a permanent move for one.

They will also be getting rid of their current first choice, who has struggled in recent times, but is Suzuki a better goalkeeper compared with Di Gregorio? Juve certainly believe so, and that explains why they are pursuing the Japan star.

Rampulla questions Suzuki move

Rampulla, however, is not convinced and does not think Juve will be signing a better goalkeeper if they add Suzuki to their squad this summer. He believes the two goalkeepers are at a similar level and has instead suggested that Juventus should consider another option.

“Di Gregorio is now suffering from pressure. Suzuki is not stronger; for me they are even. A goalkeeper must first save. Juventus needs a radical change: I would focus on a reliable young Italian with prospects like Carnesecchi or, at most Caprile.”

Rampulla’s comments suggest that Juventus should reconsider their plans for the goalkeeper position. Rather than replacing Di Gregorio with Suzuki, he believes the club should focus on finding a reliable young Italian goalkeeper with prospects.

Suzuki remains an option for Juventus, and the club’s interest shows that they consider him capable of improving their goalkeeping department. However, Rampulla does not believe the Japan international would represent a significant upgrade on Di Gregorio.

The Bianconeri therefore face an important decision over their next number one. They could continue pursuing Suzuki, potentially through a loan from PSG, or follow Rampulla’s recommendation and focus on a young Italian goalkeeper such as Carnesecchi or Caprile.
