Juventus and Inter Milan go head-to-head in the Derby d’Italia on Saturday.
Both sides will be searching for crucial points in this early-season Serie A clash, with Juventus looking to maintain their perfect start, while Inter aim to bounce back from an unexpected setback.
Francisco Conceicao is doubtful after withdrawing from the Portugal squad with muscular discomfort, while Andrea Cambiaso will miss the match due to suspension.
Arkadiusz Milik remains sidelined with a shin injury, and Fabio Miretti is out with a thigh injury until late September. Juan Cabal is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury but is back in training, while goalkeeper Mattia Perin is doubtful with a muscle injury.
Igor Tudor could hand a debut to summer signing Lois Openda, who is the most likely candidate to replace Conceicao in the starting XI. The arrival of Openda on deadline day has given Juventus additional attacking options alongside the in-form Dusan Vlahovic, who has scored in both Serie A matches so far.
Inter face a potential issue with Lautaro Martinez, as the Argentina international will return late from international duty, giving him less time for preparation ahead of the crucial clash. Martinez has been representing Argentina in World Cup qualifiers and scored against Venezuela, but his late return poses concerns for coach Cristian Chivu.
New signing Manuel Akanji is expected to make his debut after joining from Manchester City on deadline day. The Swiss defender could start over Yann Bisseck in the backline. Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also start in a tried and tested midfield trio alongside Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.
The Bianconeri have enjoyed a perfect start to the Serie A season under Igor Tudor, winning both of their opening matches without conceding a single goal. They defeated Parma 2-0 at home on the opening day before securing a 1-0 away victory against Genoa. Juventus currently have six points from six, marking an excellent beginning to what could be a title-challenging campaign.
Inter spectacularly started the season with a commanding 5-0 victory over Torino at San Siro. However, the Nerazzurri suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Udinese in their second match, with Chivu admitting his team “lost our heads” in the second half. The loss was Inter’s earliest defeat in a top-flight season since 2018/19, leaving them with three points from their opening two fixtures.
Juventus: Di Gregorio; Gatti, Bremer, Kelly; Kalulu, Locatelli, Thuram, Joao Mario; Yildiz, Openda; Vlahovic.
Inter Milan: Sommer; Acerbi, Akanji, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez.
