Juventus team news

Juventus will be without their key striker Dusan Vlahovic for the Coppa Italia clash after suffering an injury on the left adductor longus during Saturday’s 2-1 Serie A victory against Cagliari. The Serbia international was forced off in the 26th minute and underwent radiological examinations at J|Medical, which confirmed the serious nature of the injury. Further medical consultations will determine the most appropriate treatment, but manager Luciano Spalletti confirmed that Vlahovic is set to miss two to three months.

Spalletti acknowledged the difficulty of losing Vlahovic, stating that he would have preferred to have the striker available for the fixture. Jonathan David and Lois Openda are the primary alternatives to lead the line and either man could start on Tuesday.

Spalletti may opt to rotate his squad to freshen up the hosts’ first XI across multiple competitions. Edon Zhegrova and Vasilije Adzic are both strong contenders for promotion from the bench. First-choice goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio may return to action after a spell out, whilst defenders Bremer and Daniele Rugani remain sidelined, with long-term absentee Arkadiusz Milik continuing his recovery.

Positive news comes from veteran midfielder Filip Kostic, who will make his 100th appearance for the club if selected, whilst American midfielder Weston McKennie will be reaching his 200th appearance for Juventus. Notably, McKennie has won eight matches against Udinese with Juventus across all competitions — more than any other side — providing additional confidence for Tuesday’s encounter.

Udinese team news

Udinese arrive at Turin with an almost fully-fit squad, with only Hassan Kamara and Thomas Kristensen unavailable due to injury. This represents a significant advantage compared to Juventus’ depleted attacking options. Coach Kosta Runjaic is expected to rotate his team following the demanding fixture schedule.

In-form Nicolò Zaniolo may not start despite his recent impressive performances, as Runjaic assesses his options. Other attacking alternatives being considered include Keinan Davis, Adam Buksa, Vakoun Bayo, and Iker Bravo, who are all competing for starting spots. Rising talent Lennon Miller may receive another opportunity to showcase his abilities in the Coppa Italia. Defensive midfielder Oier Zarraga could make his 50th appearance for the Friuli club if included in the squad.

Form

Juventus

Luciano Spalletti’s side are unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions, demonstrating a convincing recovery in form heading into this fixture. The Bianconeri won back-to-back games last week, securing a 2-3 away victory over Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on November 25, before returning home to beat Cagliari 2-1 in Serie A on November 29.

Udinese

Kosta Runjaic’s side have seen conclusive results in their recent fixtures, recording three victories in their last six matches. Most importantly, Udinese ended a concerning goal drought with an impressive 2-0 away victory over Parma on November 28, bouncing back strongly from two consecutive defeats where they failed to score.

Predicted lineups

Juventus: Perin; Kalulu, Gatti, Kelly; Cambiaso, Locatelli, Koopmeiners, Cabal; Zhegrova, Adzic; Openda

Udinese: Okoye; Goglichidze, Kabasele, Solet; Ehizibue, Miller, Karlstrom, Atta, Zemura; Bravo, Buksa
