Credit to Tutto Sport for reporting that Juventus are actively considering Bernardo Silva as a potential midfield recruit. The Portuguese playmaker, whose contract at Manchester City is due to expire in June 2026, is once again at the centre of intense speculation.
“TURIN – The market has just ended, yes. But the next market, even the summer one, has in fact just begun,” the Italian outlet observed. That line perfectly captures the constant churn of modern football, where planning for the future begins almost as soon as the window shuts.
Juve’s leadership are looking at positions where a world-class signing would elevate the entire department. As Tutto Sport put it, “There, where a man of geometry would be needed. There, where a champion would significantly increase the level of competitiveness of the entire department.”
That sentiment is central to their pursuit of Bernardo Silva. In recent years, the Serie A giants have witnessed the transformative effect of players like Luka Modric and Kevin De Bruyne moving to Italy. Those arrivals shifted not only tactical options but also perceptions of Serie A’s pull in the later stages of players’ careers.

The comparison with De Bruyne feels unavoidable. As Tutto Sport highlighted, “Bernardo Silva, however, is younger than De Bruyne: class of ’94 against class of ’91. Three years influence the reasoning.” That difference might be crucial in shaping Juventus’ approach, given that Silva could offer more longevity.
Another striking line from the report reads: “Thinking of Bernardo Silva, from this point of view, is an immediate step. And in some ways taken for granted.” It is a reminder of how Silva’s blend of creativity, intelligence and versatility makes him an obvious target.
Manchester City’s policy around player renewals is methodical, particularly for those approaching their thirties. “In fact, it is difficult for him to snatch another contract extension,” noted Tutto Sport, underlining the challenge Silva faces in securing fresh terms at the Etihad.
That opens a door Juventus are keen to walk through. Mimicking Napoli’s clever capture of De Bruyne on a short-term deal, Juve could seek to replicate the formula with Silva. “Manna’s manoeuvre, good at anticipating competition from half of Europe for KDB, can become a model for Juve,” the piece added.
As City weigh the costs of offering Silva another long-term commitment, Juventus sense an opportunity to make their own statement in the European market.
Inevitably, interest will extend beyond Turin. “For the attacking midfielder there will be a queue already in the coming months,” Tutto Sport concluded. That queue may define how realistic Juve’s pursuit truly is.
For now, what feels clear is that Juventus see Silva as more than a marquee signing. He represents a strategic bet on leadership, creativity and experience at the highest level.
From a Manchester City supporter’s perspective, reading reports like this feels unsettling. Bernardo Silva has been one of the most consistent and committed players since joining in 2017. He embodies Pep Guardiola’s philosophy, combining tireless work rate with creative vision. To hear that Juventus are circling him, with credible planning and ambition, strikes at the heart of City’s identity.
Silva has spoken in the past about seeking new challenges and it has always been a lingering worry for fans. The notion that City might allow his contract to run down feels harsh, particularly given his influence in key Champions League and Premier League victories. While Kevin De Bruyne rightly garners headlines, Silva’s contributions have often been just as decisive.
It would be devastating to see him walk away freely, especially to a continental rival who might benefit from his tactical intelligence for several more years. City’s board have been pragmatic with player renewals, but this is a case where sentiment must be considered. Fans want Silva to be treated as one of the club’s greats, not as an asset to be moved on.
If Juventus or another club truly make a move, City supporters will expect the club to fight to keep him. Letting him go for nothing would not only weaken the squad but would also symbolise a lack of reward for loyalty and excellence. For many of us, Bernardo Silva deserves to finish his prime years in sky blue.
