Juventus didn’t acquire Kolo Muani in January, but their chase wasn’t totally in vain, as it set the stage for his potential summer return. The Bianconeri ultimately decided to stand pat rather than commit to another striker to have more freedom.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via Tribuna), the Old Lady smoothed over previous tensions with PSG, stemming from the past tiresome back-and-forth. The deal would have come together had Tottenham given their go-ahead. Instead, the Spurs elected to keep the player, as they didn’t find a replacement.
Thanks to their work behind the scenes, Juventus will be the frontrunners to land Kolo Muani in the next session. The Premier League side doesn’t have an option to buy him. He’d obviously have to sign off on the transfer, and he was very keen on heading back to Turin.
According to Calciomercato, the Old Lady will have to open their wallet to purchase the Frenchman. PSG spent €90M for him in 2023. His residual cost is naturally decreasing, but it’ll take at least €50M to get it done. Plus, his salary is quite hefty.
He had a nice spell with them last season, but arguably not enough to get that fixated on him. He’s bigger than Jonathan David, but he’s not a bruiser or a pristine goal poacher. There’s a long way to go before the summer. While Dusan Vlahovic is a lot more likely to leave than to stay, things could always change if he sizzles after returning. They can get creative with the formula, but it’s tough to imagine they’ll splurge that much for any single player.
