Kai Havertz scored for Germany in their round of 32 clash with Paraguay on Monday, but it wasn't enough as Julian Nagelsmann’s side crashed out on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The 27-year-old Arsenal forward, who missed Germany’s first penalty in the shootout, struggled to find the words after the defeat.

“I don’t have much to say. I’m speechless. My second World Cup, messed it up twice,” said Havertz, who was part of the Germany team that crashed out in the group stage in Qatar four years ago.

“The only thing I can say is sorry. We are all disappointed. We had big plans this year. To disappoint again now is not a nice feeling.”
