K
ai Havertz is hoping to make his first appearance for Arsenal this week.
The Gunners travelled to Germany on Sunday for a pre-season training camp and face Nurnberg on Thursday.
Havertz is part of a 30-man squad that will be training at Adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach.
The group who have travelled out to Germany includes 16-year-olds Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who both signed scholarship terms last week.
Havertz and other players who played international games in June only returned to training on Saturday.
As a result they played no part in Arsenal’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Watford on Saturday, which the Gunners drew 1-1.
Havertz and the other international players, such as Bukayo Saka, will train with the squad this week and a decision will be made as to whether they can play on Thursday.
The priority has always been for them to feature in Arsenal’s tour of the USA, which they leave for on Sunday.
Arsenal want further new signings in by then and are expected to announce the signings of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this week.
The pair underwent medicals last week as Arsenal look set to take their summer spending over £200million.
