According to Globo.com, Palmeiras goalkeeper Kaique has drawn interest from Sporting Lisboa in recent weeks, with the 23-year-old seen as a future option.

The capital club are looking for an immediate deputy to Rui Silva, with 26-year-old João Vírgina set to leave in search of more game time.

There has been no offer so far, only contact between Sporting and the player’s representatives. Palmeiras are aware of the interest, but have not been formally approached.

Kaique spent the past two seasons in Portugal, first with Farense, then at Nacional.

He impressed at his last club, prompting the Verdão to reintegrate him and loan out rival keeper Aranha. The position also includes Carlos Miguel and Marcelo Lomba.

A sale is not in Palmeiras’ plans, though a favourable proposal could be considered to help raise funds. The club aim to keep a percentage of his economic rights, holding 70% with the remainder owned by third parties, and his contract runs to December 2030.

Despite his mid-year return, Kaique has yet to start for the first team. He joined Palmeiras in 2019 after coming through Portuguesa’s academy.
