Kaizer Chiefs played to a one-all draw with AmaZulu in a Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Newly signed striker Thandolwethu Ngwenya opened the scoring, giving Usuthu the lead with a header in the 21st minute.

Chiefs academy graduate Mduduzi Shabalala leveled matters 11 minutes later to salvage a point for the Soweto giants.

Prior to the half time break, Khanyisa Mayo was adjudged offside in his attempt to finish off Pule Mmodi’s chip over AmaZulu’s shot stopper – much to the frustration of the ex-Golden Arrows talisman.

As a result, Amakhosi are in fifth place, with 15 points accumulated from the opening eight league matches.

Furthermore, Chiefs have now stretched their winless run in the Betway Premiership to five games, with their last win dating back to August.

For the KZN-based outfit, the result saw them fixated in ninth place on the South African topflight standings with 12 points amassed.

Now, AmaZulu will tackle Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 on Sunday, while Chiefs are set to lock horns with Stellenbosch FC on the same day.
