Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande has been appointed as the new head coach of Zimbabwean outfit Rangers FC.
The Chinhoyi-based side currently competes in the second-tier and is targeting promotion from the Northern Region Soccer League to the topflight division.
Katsande recently completed his CAF C License and is enrolled for the CAF B License as he looks to embark on a new journey in the dugout.
Notably, the 40-year-old tactician had been coaching in the youth structures at his academy in South Africa, Kitoko Soccer Schools.
During his heyday, Katsande enjoyed success with Chiefs, where he lifted two league titles, one MTN8 and as many Nedbank Cup titles.
Nicknamed ‘Salt and Vinegar’ for his hard-tackling, he made over 300 appearances with 18 goals and nine assists at the Soweto giants.
Katsande also turned out for the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town and Sekhukhune United in the South African topflight, in addition to Gunners Harare in his native Zimbabwe.
It remains to be seen how he will fare in his first role as a senior professional team head coach after a successful playing career.
