Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.

Bayern got off to a lightning start, with Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich having chances to give the hosts the lead inside five minutes.

The Bavarians should have gone ahead when Harry Kane led a counter-attack, allowing Olise to force Gregor Kobel to parry the ball away into the path of Luis Diaz, whose attempt was saved yet again by the Swiss goalkeeper.

Kane made it 1-0 in the 22nd minute as the Englishman headed Kimmich’s corner home from close range.

The goal marked the 400th of his career, 104 of which he has scored for Bayern. It was also his 12th league goal this term, meaning only three Bundesliga teams have outscored him.

Olise almost doubled Bayern’s lead, firing a shot just wide of the post before Diaz’s shot cannoned off Waldemar Anton.

The first half ended with Dortmund not registering a single target on goal.

Four minutes after the restart, the visitors nearly drew level when Julian Ryerson delivered a cross to Felix Nmecha, who could not get his header on target.

Karim Adeyemi squandered a big chance to put Dortmund on level terms after the hour mark, failing to hit the target from close range.

Bayern doubled their advantage in the 79th minute, thanks to Kane’s brilliance as he picked out Diaz with an incredible pass, who sent his effort beyond Kobel.

The Colombian’s shot was initially stopped by Jobe Bellingham, but he could not clear the ball in time, allowing Olise to slide the loose ball into the net.

Substitute Julian Brandt pulled one back for Dortmund in the 86th minute, sparking late momentum for the visitors, but it was not enough to salvage a comeback.

The defeat ends Niko Kovac’s unbeaten start to the season and allows Bayern to equal the German record of a side winning their first 12 games of the season.

According to OptaFranz, Kane also set a new personal record in the fixture, completing 11 long passes — his highest-ever in a single league game.
