FC Bayern is determined to extend Harry Kane’s contract—and from the club’s perspective, things are looking promising. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now provided a clear update on the striker’s future.

Kane’s contract at Säbener Straße expires in the summer of 2027. It’s a situation the German record champions want to change as quickly as possible—and apparently, the striker himself is on the same page. That’s exactly what Dreesen made clear on Tuesday at the “Presseclub München.”

“There’s a strong desire on both sides,” explained the CEO, adding: “Now we have to make sure that our respective desires align.” So the fundamental willingness is there; now it’s the details that matter.

The World Cup also plays a role in the timing. Before the 2026 tournament, Kane had emphasized that he wanted to focus fully on it for the time being. The forward ultimately helped England finish in third place—and now discussions about his future are back in the spotlight. Dreesen explained that the club plans to hold talks with Kane after his vacation.

Dreesen remains cautious on personnel matters

The 58-year-old remained tight-lipped on other personnel matters. He declined to comment on a possible contract extension for sporting director Max Eberl, referring the matter to the relevant supervisory board. Regarding his own future, he simply said, “You can see I’m very relaxed.”

This composure also has financial reasons. The club aims to present positive financial results again this fall. “We will continue our streak of profitability,” Dreesen announced.

On the sporting front, FC Bayern continues to hold onto its highest ambitions, though Dreesen put them into a realistic perspective. “We can’t really believe that we’ll win the Champions League every year. But that has to be our goal,” said the CEO.

He continued: “That’s what FC Bayern wants—to have the ambition to win every title. But we’re not so foolish or presumptuous as to not realize that it’s not possible.” The next concrete step is now to reach an agreement with Kane on the outstanding issues.
