Harry Kane is expected to remain the face of FC Bayern for the long term. While talks about a contract extension are set to gain momentum after the World Cup, Lothar Matthäus has already made a clear prediction. The record-holding national team player is confident that the Munich club will announce the deal soon.

Harry Kane is under contract with FC Bayern until the summer of 2027. Nevertheless, officials at Säbener Straße are already pushing ahead intensively with plans for an early extension.

The starting point could hardly be better. There is currently no pressure on either the player’s side or at FC Bayern. Both parties are said to be convinced of a shared future. Kane feels extremely at home in Munich, both professionally and personally, and, according to current information, is not considering any alternatives at all.

Initially, there had even been speculation that an agreement could be reached before the World Cup begins. However, it is now considered likely that the decisive talks will take place only after the tournament. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is also expected to play an important role in this process.

Matthäus expects a quick agreement

For Lothar Matthäus, the matter is already clear.

The record-holding national team player commented on Harry Kane’s future in the latest issue of Sport BILD and expressed great optimism regarding a contract extension.

Interestingly, Matthäus began his assessment with another Bayern star. When asked about the latest speculation surrounding Michael Olise and Real Madrid, the 65-year-old made it clear that he sees no risk of him leaving.

“I’m certain that FC Bayern will stand firm on Olise, no matter what sum Real Madrid or other clubs offer. Why would they sell players like him or Luis Díaz, who not only secure their dominance in the Bundesliga but also bring them international glory?” Matthäus explained.

It was precisely this line of thinking that led Matthäus to his prediction for Kane.

“That’s why I’m also convinced that Bayern will extend Harry Kane’s contract before the first Bundesliga matchday of the new season,” emphasized the former World Cup champion.

In fact, there is currently a lot to suggest this scenario. After the World Cup ends, Kane will first take a vacation. After that, there will still be plenty of time before the start of the season to negotiate the final details of a new contract.

Bayern wants to send a strong signal

An extension with Kane would have far more than just sporting significance for the Munich club.

The Englishman has long since become the record champions’ figurehead. After scoring 61 goals in competitive matches last season, he is considered not only one of the best strikers in the world but also a role model for Vincent Kompany’s project.

An early contract extension would therefore also send a clear signal to international rivals. Similar to the case with Michael Olise, FC Bayern wants to tie its absolute key players to the club for the long term and make it clear that Munich remains one of the most attractive destinations in top-tier European soccer.

Should Matthäus’s prediction prove correct, the next major personnel decision at Säbener Straße could be made official just a few weeks after the World Cup.
