Karim Adeyemi: Dortmund prepared to sell Man United target in January | OneFootball

Manchester United’s project under Ruben Amorim has been tattered following the Portuguese’s fallout with the club’s hierarchy. 

There was a significant rift between the now former United head coach and their director of football Jason Wilcox. Ultimately, the Red Devils decided to back Wilcox, calling the time on Amorim’s tenure after 14 months. 

With Wilcox still at Old Trafford, there is unlikely to be a major shift in the club’s transfer strategy. United wanted to sign Antoine Semeneyo from Bournemouth this month. However, the Ghana forward’s preference is to join Manchester City. 

It is unclear whether United will look to sign another attacker. However, if they do, Borussia Dortmund’s stance should pique their interest.

In November, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United held talks with super agent Jorge Mendes about Karim Adeyemi.

The pacey winger, who has six goals and three assists to his name this season, will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season.

However, Dortmund are yet to convince him to renew his deal.

According to CaughtOffside, Dortmund are prepared to “sanction a sale” this month rather than “allow the situation to drag into the summer.”

It is claimed United and Arsenal have both made enquiries for the Germany international.

Dortmund’s initial asking price is believed to be in the region of €60-70 million.

However, Adeyemi’s inconsistent performances and his dwindling contract might weaken their negotiation position. 

It is suggested that Arsenal are currently better placed to lure the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, United may need to “push harder financially” and offer a more lucrative wage package due to their unstable project.
