According to a report from Foot Mercato, Karim Benzema (38) has refused to play for Al-Ittihad after rejecting a new contract offer from the Saudi Pro League club. The French international striker deems the offer unsatisfactory and has decided he is unwilling to play in their upcoming match against Al Fateh.

The former Real Madrid striker is in the final six months of his contract with the Jeddah outfit. With the Ballon d’Or winner rejecting the latest contract offer submitted to him, he looks set to leave Al-Ittihad when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old has dug his heels in and will not play in the Saudi Pro League club’s upcoming match. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the striker will just miss one game or will continue to down tools until he receives a contract offer he is happy with.
