Kasper Høgh has revealed he is relishing the prospect of Champions League nights at Celtic Park with his new club…

The big Danish centre-forward rubber-stamped a record-breaking transfer deal with Martin O’Neill’s side yesterday, and had the opportunity to join his teammates at training for the very first time today.

Høgh’s capture is undeniably exciting for the Celtic supporters and is exactly the type of signing the fanbase have been screaming out for this past while in the transfer market.

Still well within our reach at slightly more than what we put up for Arne Engels, you only have to look at the potential payday we will receive for the Belgian star to know that if Kasper hits all the right notes, we could be quids in again further down the line.

That won’t be of immediate concern to the Parkhead Faithful just now though, as they will only be interested in how the the 25-year-old former Bodø/Glimt man will perform when he puts on that famous green and white hoops for the next (hopefully) four-years or so.

Dundee awaits this coming Monday at Paradise, when we kick-off another new campaign on Flag Day, and whilst we will all be hoping for goals there, bigger tasks lie in wait for Høgh.

Celtic were embarrassing in Europe last season and fell against Kairat Almaty in the UEFA Champions League play-off tie, after the club failed again to back manager Brendan Rodgers in the marketplace. That saw a perfect storm ensue afterwards that lasted the full season until Martin O’Neill managed to unify the support and the team to help us get over the line – just barely. Next time out though, the supporters will be hoping that with Kasper Høgh’s help, we can navigate that notoriously tricky tie successfully this year.

Sky Sports’ Luke Shanley caught up with big Kasper ahead of the new season starting this coming Monday and he revealed that he cannot wait to sample those famous UEFA Champions League nights under the disco lights at Paradise…

Luke Shanley: In terms of this being right for you in your at this time of career, what was that all about? And what will you bring to Celtic?

Kasper Hogh: “You know, as I said, I had to feel the gut and the feeling with Celtic and when we spoke together, it was a nice feeling. So, all that was a good match in my head and I hope I can bring a lot of energy, a happy boy and some goals and just hard work.”

Luke Shanley: You’re in just now ahead of the start of the season, but the Norwegian season’s already been underway. How much will that help you hit the ground running?

Kasper Hogh: “Yeah, as I said, I feel also in good shape now. So because we already played some games in the the league in Norway. So I feel if there’s space for it then of course it’s up to the the coach and the team to decide but I feel ready.”

Luke Shanley: You’ve had that experience in Europe with Bodo as well. They’ve done so well in Europe. How big is this Champions League qualifier for Celtic? And do you feel you could take something from Bodo and how well they’ve done and bring it to Celtic?

Kasper Hogh: “Yeah, and all respect to my old teammates. They did a great job also to help me. I just hope uh that I can bring that to hope Celtic to qualify. That would be the main priority because I hear that the Champions League games in Celtic Park will be amazing. ”

Luke Shanley: Celtic have made that investment in you as well. Does that come with a pressure or is that something you relish when you are the record signing at a club?

Kasper Hogh: “Yeah, I think that’s how it is in football, you know. It’s yeah, crazy with you know the price and all that to talk about. I’m just happy to be here and thankful. So, it is what it is.

Luke Shanley: Monday night, the flag from winning the league last season will be raised before the game. That’s always an inspiration for Celtic players. Just how much are you looking forward to that taste of Celtic Park against Dundee on Monday night?

Kasper Hogh: “A lot. But right now, I just take one day at a time and try to learn all the new guys to to know me and I can know them. So nice to be…”
