Kasper Schmeichel has passed his medical in Italy and will now sign the agreement that will make him Celtic’s first choice goalkeeper, replacing Joe Hart.

The Denmark international will now complete the paperwork before heading to Washington DC to join his new Celtic teammates. That’s according to Danish outlet Tipsbladet and there report is translated (very roughly) below…

Tipsbladet can reveal that the Danish national team star has passed his medical check-up, and thus there is only ink left on the contract before he can be presented as the new goalkeeper for Brendan Rodgers’ troops.

As Tipsbladet could reveal on Monday, the mandatory medical check-up was to take place in Italy, and it has gone completely according to plan, so on Thursday he will meet his new team-mates in the USA, where Celtic is at a training camp.

Kasper Schmeichel is transfer-free after his farewell to Anderlecht, and it has always been the idea that he should have his future in place after the EC.

On Friday evening, the Dane accepted an offer for a one-year deal at Celtic, and an option for a further season has also been agreed.

As boss, he thus gets Brendan Rodgers, whom he managed to play under for more than three years, when they were both in the Premier League club Leicester.

In a day’s time, there will be a reunion.
