Katie Reid out with ACL injury

Arsenal, in a message on their website, confirmed that Katie Reid suffered a ruptured ACL injury during a recent training session.

The 19-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days and is expected to have played her last part for the Gunners this season.

It is a huge blow for the teenager who has been making waves for the Gunners.

In the absence of Leah Williamson, Reid played seven games and was named Arsenal’s Player of the Month for September.

She was on the cusp of making her first senior appearance for England, after being named in Sarina Wiegman’s squad for their friendlies with Brazil and Australia last month.

Reid was forced to pull out of the squad with a ‘minor injury’ but quickly returned to training for Arsenal.

She came on for the final two minutes in their 4-1 victory over Leicester but was left off the bench for their clash with WSL title rivals Chelsea.

Reid posts message after injury confirmation

Katie Reid, in a message on Instagram, said she is “devastated” following the news of her ACL rupture.

She wrote: “There’s been lots of tears and I am sure there will be many more to come, but I am extremely grateful for the love and support around me.

“The road to recovery starts now and I’ll give my all to be back stronger.”

Reid received support from a number of teammates, including Taylor Hinds and Stina Blackstenius, who wrote: “We got you.”

ACL injury blows for Arsenal and England

The ACL injury suffered by Reid is not the first suffered by either Arsenal or England so far this season.

Michelle Agyemang, also 19, was ruled out for the season after suffering an ACL rupture during England’s friendly with Australia.

Agyemang, who is a teammate of Reid at Arsenal, had been loaned out to Brighton for the 2025-26 season.

Both Reid and Agyemang will be unable to be called upon when England begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against Ukraine on March 3rd. England are in a qualifying group which also includes Spain and Iceland.

Agyemang, in a response to Reid’s message on Instagram, wrote: “With you all the way, my girl.”

It is the third ACL injury for an Arsenal player in the last month, after goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger also suffered the same injury.
