Corinthians beat Vasco 1-0 on Sunday in the 13th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, with goalkeeper Kauê the standout. He matched the team’s season record for saves in a single match.
He made seven stops against Vasco, equalling his own tally from the defeat to Fluminense on 1 April. According to Meu Timao, his interventions proved decisive in securing the victory.
It marked the first time in his professional career that he has kept two consecutive clean sheets. His previous outing was Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Barra in the Copa do Brasil.
A product of Corinthians’ academy, Kauê has emerged as cover for Hugo Souza. Early this season the club tried to sign João Ricardo from Fortaleza, but he did not pass a medical.
Across 2026, Hugo missed matches due to Brazil call-ups and fitness issues, while Felipe Longo was also sidelined by injury, opening the door for Kauê.
Corinthians now turn to the Libertadores, facing Peñarol in the third round on Thursday at 21:00 at Neo Química Arena.
