Kayne Van Oevelen arrives in Manises to join Valencia on loan | OneFootball

Kayne Van Oevelen has landed in Manises to link up with Valencia on loan, adding competition in goal under Corberán.

According to Superdeporte, the club still have work to do in the final days of the window, with reinforcements needed across the pitch. Pablo Maffeo has arrived for right-back and an agreement is in place for Arnau Martínez while that move remains open.

The goalkeeper joins from Ipswich after a short delay requested by his coach Gary O’Neil due to the fitness of their second and third keepers, with the green light coming this weekend. He will train immediately under Corberán.

On arrival, Van Oevelen expressed his happiness to join a major club, said he had already spoken with Corberán who gave him confidence, and stressed he wants to help the team while competing with Stole Dimitrievski. He added that leaving Ipswich for LaLiga was a difficult decision but he is pleased to be here.

He will be Valencia’s sixth signing of the summer, including the return of Guido Rodríguez. The loan has no purchase option, involves a fee of around half a million euros, and could rise if he does not reach a set appearance threshold.

Ron Gourlay tried to buy his rights earlier in the summer when he was at Volendam, but the Dutchman signed for Ipswich Town before opting for a season at Valencia due to limited minutes in England. Standing 199 centimetres, he brings a modern profile and raises competition after injuries to Julen Agirrezabala opened the door for Dimitrievski last season.

DataMB figures rank Van Oevelen among Europe’s top young keepers by save percentage, behind Andrew and Benfica’s Ukraine international Antoliy Trubin. Whether he can claim the starting spot at Valencia remains to be seen.
