Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has called on his side to keep improving after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Leeds United.

Emery’s men fell behind to the promoted side midway through the first half after Anton Stach’s stunning long range free kick, but equalised in the 88th minute through Tammy Abraham’s header to secure a point.

The Villains find themselves seven points behind league leaders Arsenal, but the 54-year-old has called on his side to keep pushing and take each game as they come despite the mixed result.

“We can see it in two ways. One way is losing two points at home,” said Emery.

“How we were feeling here, so, so strong, it was so difficult for teams to get points here, beaten the best teams in the league, Arsenal and Man City.

“Now, four matches at home. We won against Brighton but Everton and Brentford we lost and we draw.

“And then there is overall, how we are in the table on day 27. We can analyse it all.

“In minute 90, we were thinking to get two points more. In minute ten, the only objective was to win. Accept this point was a good point. Keep going forward, improving.

“The Premier League is very difficult but we are third. Very good for us and for a lot of teams. The objective is clear, focus each match. Now, we are third with 51 points. Next step, Wolverhampton.”

When asked about his side’s mixed form at home in recent weeks, which has seen two defeats and a draw in their last four, Emery was unconcerned.

“Sometimes we were performing like now but winning. Maybe because we were more clinical, energy was full, we were excited. Now we are trying to recover our energy, our mood. I am happy with how we are reacting.

“We beat Brighton and we draw today. It is not bad.”
