‘Keep your mouth shut’ – Sam Allardyce launches furious attack on Celtic defender | OneFootball

Sam Allardyce has hit out at Cameron Carter-Vickers after the Celtic defender’s revealing comments following Sunday’s defeat to Rangers.

The Hoops suffered a 1-0 loss at Celtic Park, their third consecutive defeat and second against Rangers in the space of seven days, increasing the pressure surrounding Martin O’Neill.

Speaking afterwards, Carter-Vickers described Celtic’s performance as “too random” and suggested the players needed to “get a script and stick to it.”

Those remarks caused concern among sections of the Parkhead support, with some interpreting them as an indication that the players were looking for greater clarity and structure from the Celtic coaching staff.

Allardyce, however, was far from impressed and accused the American international of attempting to shift responsibility away from the players.

Speaking on his No Tippy Tappy Football podcast after hearing Carter-Vickers’ comments, Allardyce asked: “Was he there last year? One of the new signings, was he?”

After being informed that Carter-Vickers was not a new signing, the former England boss continued: “Tell him to keep his f—— mouth shut.

“That’s what happened last year. Martin just goes down and does it like Brian Clough.

“Or if you listen to Graeme Souness, this is what I’m talking about, this over-coaching c— when you can’t think for yourself.

“You must have heard Graeme Souness’ story when he first went to Liverpool and went to Joe Fagan and Bob Paisley and asked, ‘What do you want me to do?’

“They go, ‘What do you mean? We paid X amount of money for you and you don’t know what to do? We must have wasted our money on you.’”
