Manchester United’s hierarchy might be lacking in ruthlessness when it comes to their senior side, having let Ruben Amorim remain in charge despite their abysmal record over the last 11 months.
However, Ineos have been very ambitious in their recruitment at youth level, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants United to sign the best up-and-coming talents and build for the future.
The new regime at Old Trafford has already signed the likes of Enzo Kana-Biyik, Harley Emsden-James, Charlie Hardy, Chido Obi, and Ayden Heaven.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have reached an agreement in principle to sign midfield sensation Cristian Orozco from Colombian outfit Fortaleza CEIF.
Now, it has emerged that the Red Devils are trying to beat their rivals to the signing of a Scottish wonderkid.
According to CentreDevils, United are “pushing hard to sign” Keir McMeekin, who is seen as “one of the brightest talents coming out of Scotland.”
The Scotland U17 international has already visited Carrington training center. He was reportedly joined by some family and his agent.
It is understood United face competition from Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool for the 15-year-old midfielder’s signature.
United are thought to be willing to pay a compensation fee to Hearts to win the race for McMeekin.
McMeekin is yet to make a final decision on his future and the next few weeks could be crucial.
Meanwhile, last week, Derby County starlet Charlie Hardy announced he is set for a new chapter.
The 16-year-old goalkeeper will “sign scholarship terms at United after receiving Premier League ratification to join.”
Hardy is expected to play for United’s U18s, who are currently coached by Darren Fletcher.
