Keito Kumashiro becomes the second Japanese player to move to Frankfurt on 1 January 2026, after Keita Kosugi.

Eighteen-year-old striker Keito Kumashiro will initially link up with Eintracht’s U21 side when he officially joins the club from Roasso Kumamoto at the start of the new year. Kumashiro racked up 40 appearances in Japan’s second tier over the past two seasons, scoring 13 goals and setting up another two. After making his J2 League debut at the tender age of 16 years and four months in March 2024, he opened his account for the club just a few days later to became the division’s youngest goalscorer in recent years.

Kumashiro has also scored three goals in six appearances for Japan’s U16 national team, having made his debut as a 14-year-old.

Sporting director Timmo Hardung: “In Keito Kumashiro, we’re signing a very talented striker who has already gained experience of senior football at a young age. Moving to Europe and the Bundesliga is a big step, which is why our initial focus will be on bringing him on gently and allowing him to adapt.”
