Manchester City will take on Newcastle United at St. James Park tomorrow. The game against Eddie Howe’s side will provide a stern test for Pep Guardiola’s side. By now it is well known that the world champions will be without Rodri, Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake for tomorrow’s match. Kevin De Bruyne will also miss tomorrow’s match Pep Guardiola has confirmed today.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the availability of Kevin De Bruyne for today’s match during his pre-game press conference. The City manager confirmed that De Bruyne would miss tomorrow’s clash with Newcastle. Worryingly, Guardiola is unsure when De Bruyne will return. When asked about De Bruyne’s condition Guardiola said: “No. Maybe before the international break.[he will be available again].

Guardiola added that he was unsure how long the Belgian international would be unavailable for when asked when De Bruyne would return. He added: “I don’t know. Before maybe the (October) international break, or after international break. So we will see.

Kevin De Bruyne was substituted at halftime of Manchester City’s nil-all draw with Inter Milan. He has subsequently missed City’s last two games against Arsenal and Watford due to the injury he sustained at the Etihad. What is a concern is that there doesn’t appear to be a timeframe for De Bruyne’s return. Given that the 24/25 season is in its infancy, it is understandable that Manchester City will take no risks with the fitness of the club legend. But the longer he is unavailable the more you don’t wonder about his condition. Given his age and injury history, anytime De Bruyne goes down, it is a concern. The hope is that De Bruyne’s current injury isn’t too serious.

Manchester City will take on Newcastle tomorrow without Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne. That is a blow for the world champions. But their absence does provide opportunities for other members of the City squad.
