Kevin Denkey grabbed his 15th goal in just 19 league games against Kortrijk as Cercle Brugge ran out 3-0 winners on Wednesday evening. The men in Green and Black thought they had taken the lead through Alan Minda within the opening 10 minutes, but VAR ruled it out. It took them until late in the first half to finally take the lead through captain Thibo Somers. This was Somers second goal in the space of a week and his third of the season.

Soon after half-time it was 2-0 as Yann Gboho provided an assist for Denkey to make it two. This was the Togolese striker’s fourth goal in his previous four games. Gboho grabbed his second assist of the game when Minda was finally able to get on the scoresheet. With teams yet to play, Cercle Brugge have jumped up to fourth in the table. However, they can be overtaken by the likes of Club Brugge, Genk and Antwerp if those sides win their next game.
