The race between two Bundesliga sides to secure the services of Indonesian international Kevin Diks has apparently ended with Borussia Mönchengladbach coming out on top. This is reported by Kicker journalist Jan Lustig. The German footballing journalist reports that the 28-year-old will move to the foals on a free this Summer. Lustig confirms a report originating from Danish online news portal bold.dk.
Diks has been actively courted by Westphalia’s Niederrheiner for quite some time, reportedly reaching an agreement to move to Gladbach twice in the last eight months.
A summer transfer ended up being vetoed by the central defender’s Danish side. Last month, Diks was compelled to reconsider his BMG move due to heavy courting by his former sporting director Peter Christiansen.
Lustig claims that the Diks deal is close to being bought over the lie and should be confirmed shortly. A winter transfer appears to be off the table for now.
As is often the case with such matters, however, Gladbach could push to bring the centre-back in early should they lose one of their own central defenders. Ko Itakura, Nico Elvedi, and Marvin Friedrich have all been the subject of outgoing transfer rumors.
